Board elections

Board of trustee election services

The preparation and processing of elections for boards of trustees is a job which should be able to be handed over to your returning officer with absolute confidence.

The returning officer’s first task is to get the roll and mailing list confirmed.  This is followed by printing and packing the letters for despatch – twice – once for the notice and nomination form and a second post for the voting papers. This is an enormous task which for a school of only 500 students,  could require a total of 1500- 2000 letters to be prepared and posted.  Once the votes have been received they need to be counted and once the election results are declared there are a number of forms to be completed for return to the Ministry of Education.

GMS offers a ‘returning officer’ service for boards of trustee elections. This is a totally independent service where the returning officer carries out all the tasks of preparing for the election, sending out nominations, sending out voting papers, counting the votes and declaring the results.

We have considerable skill and experience in running elections for boards of trustees.  We know all the difficulties and risks. We can provide a tailored service to make this task as easy and trouble free as possible.

Should you need returning officer services for a subsequent by-election, we will work with your board to determine a timetable, how you wish your election is to be conducted and what specific services you require.

Thank you to all those schools who entrusted their elections to the team at GMS in 2010, 2013 and 2016.  We hope that the experience was as we promised – done with minimal impact, hassle free, effective and efficient.

We will be here again in 2019 to run through it all again.  If however you need us to manage a by-election for you at any time please get in touch.
